SECONDARY SCHOOL PROGRAMS

We’ve developed a sequenced suite of secondary school programs that build progressively across each year level, supporting students’ wellbeing as their needs, experiences, and challenges evolve. Each workshop is aligned with key Victorian Curriculum themes such as change, identity, relationships, and future pathways, so learning is age-appropriate, relevant, and connected to classroom priorities.

Across every stage, Speak & Share’s core values remain central: creating safe, interactive spaces to start important conversations, strengthen peer support, and empower young people to approach mental health with confidence, care, and a positive, proactive mindset.

years 7-8

Our Year 7 - 8 interactive wellbeing workshop helps students navigate change with confidence while strengthening their mental health and support networks.

Aligned with the Victorian Curriculum’s focus on change, students explore what change can feel like in everyday school and life contexts, and how it can impact thoughts, emotions, and behaviour.

Through engaging activities and guided discussion, students practise starting important conversations, identify healthy outlets and coping strategies, and build practical skills for receiving support and offering it to peers, so they leave with tools they can use straight away.

YEARS 9-10

Our Year 9 - 10 interactive wellbeing workshop supports students to explore identity and strengthen their mental health and support networks.

Aligned with the Victorian Curriculum’s focus on identity, students examine the factors that shape who they are, such as values, relationships, culture, online influences, and life experiences, and how these can impact thoughts, emotions, behaviour, and wellbeing.

Through engaging activities and guided discussion, students practise starting important conversations, identify healthy outlets and coping strategies, and build practical skills to seek support and provide support to peers, so they leave with tools they can apply straight away.

YEARS 11-12

Our Year 11 - 12 interactive wellbeing workshop supports students to navigate the transition beyond school by strengthening relationships, future readiness, and mental health.

Aligned with the Victorian Curriculum’s focus on future and relationships, students explore the pressures and opportunities that come with senior years - such as exams, changing friendships, family expectations, and decisions about life after school and how these can influence thoughts, emotions, behaviour, and wellbeing.

Through engaging activities and guided discussion, students build emotional awareness, practise starting important conversations, and develop practical strategies for coping, help-seeking, and confidently supporting peers so they leave with tools they can apply straight away.

WHY OUR PROGRAM IS CONNECTING SO WELL WITH PARTICIPANTS

The Speak & Share facilitators bring a fresh and youthful energy to every session.
Their genuine care and down to earth approach creates an environment where students
can feel comfortable to listen, open up, and connect without fear of judgement.

The recent Speak and Share workshop was an incredibly powerful and insightful experience  for our students. The level of student engagement was outstanding, reflecting just how impactful the session was. It created a safe and open space for meaningful discussions around mental health, reinforcing the importance of de-stigmatising mental health conversations and encouraging open dialogue.

Through real and relatable conversations, the workshop emphasised the significance of  normalising discussions about mental well-being, whether it is with our friends, teammates,  colleagues, or the wider community. The message was clear: speaking up and supporting one  another is not just important but essential.

We are grateful for the opportunity to host Speak and Share and highly commend their work in fostering a culture where checking in on each other becomes second nature.

On behalf of the wellbeing team at Marcellin, I just wanted to take a moment to say a very big thank you to the two fabulous presenters you sent our way yesterday. They were both lovely and personable and the message that they delivered was well received and of course very important.

The resources given at the end of the sessions to encourage students to seek support for mental health were really appreciated too, and I'm hoping the boys will keep these handy to call upon during difficult times.

This week, our students had the opportunity to take part in the Speak & Share program, an inspiring incursion focused on building strong communication skills, supporting each other’s mental health, and learning the importance of open conversations about how we’re feeling.

The feedback from both students and teachers was overwhelmingly positive, with many sharing how valuable and empowering the session was. Amy and Lachlan were fantastic with our students, encouraging them to be inwardly reflective and empathetic toward each other.

Thank you to Bendigo Bank for their generous sponsorship of this program! We look forward to working with Speak and Share again to continue supporting our students' mental health.
